Palatki holds cliff dwellings and rock art left by the Sinagua people, plus older pictographs. Visits are managed by the Forest Service, and Visit Sedona advises booking a timed slot in advance on Recreation.gov.

Parking needs a Red Rock Pass or America the Beautiful pass. The site is reached by rough gravel roads, which passenger cars can manage if driven slowly. It closes when temperatures pass 100°F or roads are impassable.

Tips

  • Book a few days ahead in spring and autumn.
  • Call ahead after rain to check the road.
