Tips for golden hour

Red rocks glow brightest in the last 30–45 minutes before sunset. Popular spots like Airport Mesa fill up well before that, so arrive about an hour early. Cliffs and canyon walls can put trails in shade earlier than the official sunset time.

Calculated with the standard NOAA solar formula. Expect accuracy within a minute or two; local terrain changes when the sun actually disappears.
